Adviser to the Prime Minister in the National Council on Skill Development, Subramanian Ramadorai, has become the new Chairman of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Ramadorai – who is also Vice-Chairman at Tata Consultancy Services – takes over the NSDC Chairmanship from M V Subbiah who had been leading the NSDC since the corporation was formed in 2008. Ramadorai chairing his first meeting of the Board of Directors of the NSDC said, “It is a great honor and a privilege for me to be handed the responsibility of chairing the NSDC and carry forward the task that Mr Subbiah had undertaken with such missionary zeal over the past five years.”

“Mr Subbiah’s strong advocacy of the need for all stakeholders to play their part in creating a skills culture in India so that the country is in a position to leverage its favorable demographic profile has been a big factor in the NSDC becoming a transformational agent in such a short span of time. It would be my endeavor to work closely with the NSDC Board and other stakeholders to ensure that the National Skill Development Corporation is in a position to not just achieve its target of skilling a 150 million people by 2022, but, more significantly, play a proactive role in empowering those at the bottom of the pyramid to improve their stations in life through the pursuit
of skills-related training,” Ramadorai added.

NSDC CEO and MD Dilip Chenoy said, “On behalf of the Board, and also on my personal behalf, it gives us great pleasure to welcome Mr Ramadorai as the new Chairman of the National Skill Development Corporation. The Board believes that the NSDC would benefit immensely from Mr Ramadorai’s association given the immense respect he enjoys not just in the corporate world in India and abroad, but also among policy makers, both domestic and foreign.”
