Professor Srikanta Pal has been honored by Birmingham University, UK with the Honorary Research Fellow for the period 2012-2014 because of his outstanding research in radio astronomy scientific community. A professor with the Birla Institute of Technology fabricated and even tested his research project in the University of Birmingham under the supervision of Prof. Michael J. Lancaster.  His research products are based on novel elliptical designs of two Bandstop filters using thin film based High Temperature superconductors.

Apart from it, he had also developed a device named Frequency Bandstop filter, which has enabled Green Band Telescope (GBT) – worlds largest and most technically advanced, single dish, fully steerable, radio telescope set up at Green Bank, USA – to enhance its observation range.

The management of the University of Birmingham constitutes both, the Council and Senate. It is managed by the University Executive Board, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor. Academic disciplines are organised into five academic Colleges, each of which is divided into a number of schools. Each College is led by a Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of College, who also sits on the University Executive Board.
