Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences to be transformed as a University

The Delhi government is planning to upgrade Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) as a university. This move has been taken to promote the research and education in the field of Dental Medical Science.

Chief Minister Mrs. Sheila Dikshit announced that the state government is all set to upgrade MAIDS as a full-fledged University while  while unveiling the statue of Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, in the MAIDS campus.The government is searching the land for the purpose of expansion. To pay rich tributes to Hippocrates,”We want to upgrade the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences as a full-fledged university and the vacant land adjacent to the existing Institute may be used for the expansion.” She also announced to give more emphasis on the research, she added.

Apart from it, some serious efforts would be taken to meet out the acute shortage  and space and staff in proportion to the number of patients it treats. Also, there were around nine departments, all of which are likely to be given a facelift by providing more facilities to them.
