IIT Gandhinagar and RII ties to work on Technological Development

Indian Institute of Technology located in Gandhinagar has collaborated with Japanese group Richo’s California-based unit, Ricoh Innovation Inc (RII), to jointly work on technology development.

Sudhir K Jain, the Director of IIT- Gandhinagar said, the idea behind the tie up is to work together on technology development focussed on improving interaction between people and information. A project initiated at the institute in joint collaboration with RII was Book Snap, as a part of which our students had developed a library linked software for them, he added. Also, two of our students have been selected by RII’s Indian subsidiary RIPL to work on technology development.

Ricoh Innovations, Inc. (RII) is headquartered on Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park, CA, which is a subsidiary of Ricoh Company, Ltd., the leading provider of digital office solutions. RII was founded in 1997 with the challenge of creating new technology and business opportunities for the worldwide Ricoh group.

Furthermore, it grew out of the California Research Center (CRC), which was founded in Silicon Valley in 1989. RIPL (Ricoh Innovations Private Limited), Ricoh Innovations’ R&D subsidiary in Bangalore, India, was established in 2012 to extend the operation of RII and address opportunities in India and similar emerging countries.
