Haryana to have NIFT & NID Institutes Soon

The state Haryana will soon get a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and National Institute of Design (NID) announced Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. NIFT will come up in Panchkula while NID will be set-up in Kurukshetra. The state will become an education hub of international standard in a few years.

A number of education institutions coming up in the state include Kalpana Chawla Medical College (Karnal), Rajiv Gandhi Education city (Kundli in Sonipat), Medical College (Nalhar, Mewat), Defence University (Gurgaon) and a central university (Mahendergarh, Hooda).

NIFT is a fashion institute which was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The institute enjoys statutory status under the act of Parliament of India empowering it to award degrees and other academic distinctions. It has campus in Mumbai, Kolkata, Kangra, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Raebareli, Patna, Shillong, Bhopal, Taliparamba, Bhubaneswar and Jodhpur. Apart from that, National Institute of Design (NID) is an autonomous design school under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It has a campus in Ahmedabad and a Research& Development unit in Bangalore.
