If attending classroom lectures is not your cup of tea there is good news from Gujarat University (GU). Come March, students will be able to view and download a series of 40 lectures from a specially designed portal and also from YouTube.

As part of a Central government funded project – ‘e-content’- the GU is all set to upload syllabus of first year BSc syllabus that follows Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

The vice-chancellor of GU, Dr Parimal Trivedi, said the varsity had initiated the programme with the help of the ministry of human resource development’s (MHRD) Consortium of Education three months back.

“As around 500 colleges across India follow the CBCS and similar syllabus now, around 70 lakh students are expected to benefit from the project. A team of 120 experts, academicians and technicians have worked hard on it and lectures will be uploaded by March 10,” he said.

The portal will not only have experts explaining chapters orally but will also show the matter in text format for better understanding. Dr Trivedi said that gradually they will convert the lectures into animation.
