Calcutta University to Host 100th Indian Science Congress in Jan 2013

The University of Calcutta is all set to host the 100th Indian Science Congress in Kolkata from January 3-7, 2013. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who is the General President of the conference will be presiding over the event.He is expected to unveil the new science, technology and innovation policy at the five-day event.

The theme of the largest national science event will be ‘Science for Shaping the Future of India’.The event is expected to attract over 10,000 delegates including Nobel laureates and eminent scientists from India and abroad.This is the 13th time the Indian Science Congress is being hosted by Kolkata. The city had hosted in first Science Congress in 1914 and hosted the event last in 1995.

Apart from that, the ‘Pride of India’ exhibition showcasing cutting edge technologies, leading scientific products and services, and achievements of India’s leading public and private sector organisations would also be held alongside the ISC.
