According to experts, Rupee’s weakening against the dollar might lead to lower demand for education loans for studies abroad in the near term. This is increasing concerns for the banking sector which saw slower growth in disbursement education loans in 2011-12. In the April-September 2011, education loan disbursement grew by only 18.1%, a 5% drop from the
23.6% growth in the April – September 2010, according to mid-year economic review.

As per experts several parents and students might choose to study in India instead of abroad due to the falling Rupee. Additionally students might strive for scholarships, lower fee colleges and prefer only renowned institutions. In the last few years several students even went for higher fee lesser known colleges to get a degree from abroad due to easy availability of loans.
