Indian StudentAccording to data released from the US embassy in India, the country still remains the top education destination for Indian students. The US student visa applications increased by 18 per cent over the last year from 39,958 applications in 2010 to 46,982 in 2011.

Currently over 100,000 Indian students are studying at universities across the US.

The embassy said in a statement that, “This increase denotes the close people-to-people ties between the United States and India, and reflects the desire of highly qualified students to receive a world-class education in the United States.”

To facilitate and meet the surging demand for student visas, the US govt. has increased funding for the Education USA Advising Centers at the US-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), which provides educational seminars and advising opportunities both in person and via the internet.
