The Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad is entering the 50th year of its journey on December 11, 2010. The year-long celebrations of the Golden Jubilee celebrations was planned to begin on that day. However, with the news of QS Global ranking IIM-A 2nd best B-School in the Asia-Pacific region, it looks like IIM-A got its golden jubilee gift in advance.

IIM-A has bagged second spot in the list of top business schools from which Asia-Pacific employers most prefer to recruit executives. The business school was ranked second in the QS Global 200 Business Schools Report 2012, which ranks 200 full-time MBA business schools by region and specialisation, it was reported.

The list is topped by INSEAD Asia Campus in Singapore which has been ranked top business school for the consecutive third year. The Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne took third spot.

Reportedly, IIM-A has shown considerable improvement in performance which explains why it has jumped to the second place from sixth position last year.

In a survey of more than 12,000 employers worldwide that recruit internationally were taken into account, reported the Channel News Asia. Asia-Pacific-based employers accounted for nearly a quarter of the responses coming from sectors such as consulting and professional services, banking and financial services, as well as HR and recruitment.

The other Indian management institutes that have figured in the top 20 include Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore(fifth), ISB Hyderabad (seventh), IIM Calcutta (eighth) and SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai (sixteenth).
