Maulana Azad Urdu University to start Srinagar campus

According to Professor Muhammad Mian, Vice Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, the university will soon start its satellite campus in Srinagar and additionally start two women’s polytechnic colleges in Jammu and Kashmir . Prof Mian said, “As most Urdu-knowing literate people are found in Kashmir, our university has decided to set up a satellite campus here. We are already running a satellite campus in Lucknow which is the other most literate Urdu-knowing place in the country.”

Giving more information he said, “We would offer master’s degree courses in political science, commerce and Islamic studies in the state through our satellite campus to be set up here. We will also offer degree-level courses in commerce, management and tourism.”
In a recent controversy, the Jammu and Kashmir state government had placed the Maulana Azad National Urdu University in the list of non-recognised universities. Profesor Mian how ever clarified , “The university has a countrywide mandate and the misunderstanding with the state government has been removed. The notification according full recognition to our university has already been issued by the state government.”
